Go Fish

Little Man got a CD from Ann for Christmas. The group is Go Fish. Read this to learn more about them. Their main goal is to make music for kids that won't drive their parents bonkers. They are also Christian.

The CD Ann bought Little Man is Splash and Little Man LOVES it! He asked me to turn the CD on this morning. One of my favorite songs is You are Mine.

I disagree

It still surprises me some of the things people say about adoption. When we were picking Little Man up from A & B's house (on Monday) A was asking if we had contact with Little Man's birthmom. I said that we send her pictures and a letter once a year around Little Man's birthday.

A proceeded to tell me that's one thing she doesn't understand/like about adoption. She tells me that the gal (her words not mine) gave up her child and that child is now the child of the adoptive parents. (I agree.) She also said that she has seen children ask to meet their birthparents/family when they are teenagers and it just turns around on the adoptive family. She says that child is the adoptive parents child and no longer the birthfamily's and they shouldn't be asking to meet them. (I disagree.)

Now I don't know the stories about the 2 people she was talking about. I don't know how the children were treated growing up (was adoption openly talked about? maybe they just had a strained relationship with their parents because, well, they are teenagers), how old were the children when they asked and if they had prior information about their brith families.

But what I do know is that adoption is an open word in our house. It is spoken pretty much everday. We pray for Little Man's birthmom everyday. And yes, Little Man is OUR son but he is also S's son. She has every right to meet him and he meet her. So if Little Man is 18 years old and says he wants to meet her by all means I'll drive him to wherever she wants to meet him.

But don't be telling me that birthfamilies shouldn't have the right to see the child they lovingly placed in the arms of an adoptive family. Don't tell me that it'll 'confuse' the child on who his 'real' family is. He will know who his real family is. He will also know S's family is an extended family who all love him.

Now...if only I could say all that when people make a comment like this. I still get shocked that some people think this way of thinking is OK. Sigh.

Trains

Daddy and I decided that today we would go to the Twin City Model Railroad Museum. Little Man LOVES trains and we thought it would be fun. It was! Little Man had a blast and didn't want to leave.

I am SO excited! I haven't been posting that many pictures because I am leary about people steeling them. I haven't been able to find a good program (that's free) that let's you add a watermark. Well, today I was signing into Picasa and noticed it was updating. Lo and behold they have a new watermark program! Sweet!

Here's is the first of (hopefully) many pictures of us, especially Little Man.

Last week Little Man and I were goofing around. He would run out of my and Daddy's room and then run up to the camera and I would take a picture. Well this one time he ran out of our room and forgot to turn and this is the picture I took. Check out the look on his face as he crashed into the wall. Don't worry. He's OK.

Blessings

I was given the book, Multiple Blessings by Jon and Kate Gosselin (of Jon and Kate + 8) by our first group of Secret Santa's/Angels. In the book Kate talks about her fears, frustrations and most importantly her faith and trust in God. In the book she talked about how Jon didn't have a job during her pregnancy with the sextuplets and then after their birth. She talked how they wondered (and prayed) everyday to make ends meet. And each day God provided with volunteers, donations, gifts, and the love of everyone around them (even people they didn't know).

Towards the end of the book Kate was telling the story about a family her sister was telling her about that were going through some tough times. Kate really wanted to help but didn't know how even with them being so strapped for cash. She heard God calling to her to give a little. So she wrote out a check and put it in the mailbox. When she opened the mailbox there was a card in there for them. She opened it up and it was a gift card for the exact amount of money she wrote out to the family.

Isn't it amazing how God provides just when we need it?

Onto my point, Daddy brought in the mail yesterday and I saw our energy bill came. I opened it up and noticed it doubled. DOUBLED! Winter is here alright. Even though we haven't used more heat. After the shock wore off I realized something. I only used one of the gift cards to Cub this week and it took off HALF of our bill. The EXACT amount that was added to our heating bill. God does provide!

I am just in awe at how he does provide just when we need it. With the Christmas season over and the New Year here we pray that phone calls and emails start coming in with possible interviews and job offers. We continue to trust that God will provide for us. We know he will.

By the way, I highly recommend the book. I know alot of us don't have twins AND sextuplets but we sure do have hard times in our lives and to see how God provided for the Gosselins it opened my eyes to see how he provides for us.

I got new socks today!

Well...they aren't really new...

You'd think after being in this house for almost 8 years Daddy would know how to use the dryer. Yep he shrunk his socks. I'm SO glad he did a load of his work stuff and didn't have anything in there of mine or Little Man's.

This is why I keep telling him I'll do the laundry. We can't afford to buy any new clothes. Sigh.

Happy New Year!

Wow it's 2009. A whole year is passed and gone and a new one is upon us.

Daddy and I had his 2 cousins over yesterday. We ate a ton for supper and then stayed up until almost 1am playing board games. It was a lot of fun. Although today I am having a very hard time keeping my eyes open. I'm thinking after I'm done writing this I'm going to take a nap.

I pray 2009 is a blessed and prosperous year for all of you. I also pray Daddy gets a job offer soon. That would be great! I also pray all my waiting friends don't have to wait anymore and are finally mommies.

Sorry so short my brain just shut off. Here's to another great year.
