Hello Summer

After a brief and cold Spring summer has sprung upon us. The sun, green grass, long days, and of course the heat. And if your a mom there's also sand in the shorts. Sigh. I picked up JT from the babysitter's today and he was covered head to toe (literally, it was in his hair) in sand. I was cleaning him up and noticed when the shorts fell on the ground that sand soon followed. Yuck. He got one long hot shower and we got about 1 inch of water on the floor. It's tough trying to lean into the shower to scrub him down and get everything off.

I wouldn't say I'm a neat freak but I dislike dirt. Dislike seeing kids walking around with snot running down their nose with dirty hands and faces. It's just something I have trouble grasping. And now I have one of those kids. I suppose it's because he's a boy and as a girl I wasn't one to get that dirty. I just need to get used to it, right?

Although on the bright side...only 5 more months until colder weather is here. :) Remember I LOVE the cold, love sleeve shirts, jackets, and soft scarves and hats, winter boats and cold nights. I'm also VERY excited to put the Christmas tree up in our new house. I can't wait to see it twinkling in front of our livingroom window.

Ok ok, I'm back to the bugs and the heat.

Finally Friday

Although seeing it's pretty much Friday everyday with all of us home, I really shouldn't be celebrating. But I am.

I'm in a better mood today. Daddy is still bummed on the job front. We hope and pray a job falls into his lap soon. We're coming up on 2 months of him not working. I still can't believe it's been 2 months. It's amazing how time flies. I peaked over Daddy's shoulder this morning while he was job searching and saw he was looking for jobs in Alaska. I don't know if he applied for any jobs but I'm not opposed to living there. Continue to pray that people call him back.

I just looked at the thermometer and it is reading 2 below zero. Not bad and it's only noon! According to the weather reports we're going to get a nice warm up next week. This is the one thing I don't like about Minnesota. It could be 35 degrees one day and the next 2 below with 6 inches of snow. Then the next day it'll be 25 degrees. I wish it would just do a nice steady climb to warm weather and then stay there. Not sure if you can tell but I do NOT like Spring. I hate the muck, the brown grass, and all the dirty snow melting. Yuck.

Oooo, I just looked at the temp again and it's now 1 below zero! Maybe our garage door opener will finally start working again!

More snow

Look at that! More snow! I woke up this morning and Daddy told me to look outside. It had snowed during the night and is STILL snowing. As I mentioned here, I like snow and cold. I know alot of people are getting pretty sick of it. So me being the optimist I thought I'd try and make you all feel better.

Today is Jan 12th. It's pretty much the middle of January. Before you know it this week will be done and it'll be the end of the month. Then comes February. And according to my calendar there are only 28 days this year. By then March. March can be an interesting month with usually a ton of snow or warm weather and sometimes (more like usually) both! But by the end of the month the temp is on the rise, the snow is melting, April is here and pretty soon we all will be shouting...

I just realized

I love winter. I really am not a summer person. I can't sit in the sun as I'll burn (even with SPF 100 layered on my skin). Because of that I hate wearing shorts which show off my pale legs. I do love the long summer nights and the birds singing in the morning. But...

I LOVE winter! I love the cold. How my nose feels in the crisp winter air. Bundling up in a winter jacket, gloves, boots, scarf, and hat. I love driving down a residental street and see smoke coming from fireplaces and rooftops and see steam coming out side of houses and know someone is running their dryer. I love Snow. I love the crunch of it under boots, skis, and sleds. I love the quietness and stillness of the night.

Two years ago Daddy and I took snowboard lessons for our 5 year anniversary. I loved it! (Daddy prefers skis.) I cannot wait to take Little Man out on the slopes and teach him to ski. To enjoy a family weekend skiing and enjoying snow.

I can't believe we almost moved to North Carolina. I am SO glad we are still here in Minnesota. Daddy and I also have talked about moving to Texas. Now I can say that will never happen. I need a state that has snow. I'm thinking Alaska would be a good place to move too.
